PS Mukeka attends 44th anniversary of independence of Zimbabwe

This evening, Permanent Secretary (PS) Clementine Mukeka joined the Zimbabwe Embassy in Rwanda to celebrate the 44th Anniversary of the Independence of Zimbabwe.

In her speech, she praised the robust partnership between Rwanda and Zimbabwe, highlighting vast opportunities for collaboration.

“Together, through inclusive growth and empowerment, we foresee a future of shared prosperity.”

Zimbabwe’s large-scale 44th independence anniversary celebrations are being held under the theme “Unity, Peace and Development: Towards Vision 2030” remembering Struggle for Freedom against Racism.

The armed struggle of Zimbabweans against the racist regime led to the proclamation and recognition of the independence of the state, the Republic of Zimbabwe, on April 18, 1980.

Rwanda and Zimbabwe established Embassies in Harare and Kigali in 2019. Rwanda and Zimbabwe have a very special relationship as they have striking similarities in the size of their economies, population, stages of development and history. (End)
