PS Niwenshuti hails CILT for connecting businesses and consumers across borders

Richard Niwenshuti, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, has hailed the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) for the impact that they have made in the global economy by connecting businesses and consumers.

Permanent Secretary (PS) Richard Niwenshuti made the assertion during his opening speech at the 2023 Edition of the CILT Africa Forum that is taking place in Kigali from 24th to 27th April 2023 under the theme “logistics and infrastructure development as an engine for sustainable implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area”.

The forum will offer an opportunity for professionals in the transport and logistics sector to share best practices, engage with policymakers, interact with stakeholders, and learn about emerging trends and developments in the sector.

In his remarks, PS  Richard Niwenshuti recognised “the critical role that logistics plays in the global economy by connecting businesses and consumers across borders”

PS Richard Niwenshuti highlighted the long-standing relationship between the Ministry and CILT, which he observed, has resulted in tremendous growth in the transport and logistic industry.  

“Rwanda has implemented infrastructure development, which resulted in the availability of roads, the Kigali logistic platform, bonded warehouses, and cross-border markets, among other facilities, with the aim of encouraging cross-border trade”, he said.

PS Richard Niwenshuti called upon the participants to come up with innovative approaches, proposals, and deals on how to fully implement the AfCFTA.

CILT-Africa Forum is a major continental event providing a platform for governments, corporate organizations, individuals, students and other stakeholders of the transport and logistics industry to share, learn, and promote professional and business interests. (End)
