RDB CEO, Global Citizen joined 400 youth to plant 1000 trees ahead the ‘Move Afrika’ show

Today, RDB (Rwanda Development Board) CEO Francis Gatare, alongside government officials, and Global Citizen staff joined over 400 youth from across the country in Umuganda to plant 1000 trees at Mt Rebero in Kigali ahead of the Move Afrika musical experience scheduled for 6 December 2023 at BK Arena in Kigali.

Launched in Rwanda for the next five years, the ‘Move Afrika’ campaign aims to promote health and equity, defend the planet, and create jobs and economic opportunity.

International advocacy organization Global Citizen and creative imprint, pgLang, announced Tanzanian  Zuchu and Rwandan Bruce Melodie singers are set to perform at ‘Move Afrika’ inaugural show in Rwanda, which will be headlined by Grammy Award, Pulitzer Prize winning artist Kendrick Lamar.

In partnership with the RDB, Rwanda will host Move Afrika every year for the next five years. Each year, additional countries will be added to the tour schedule, which aims to expand to five countries by 2025.

The event will feature a citizen-led advocacy campaign calling for urgent action and bold commitments from world leaders on major issues across the continent. Key issues include: the need for increased funding for health, with a specific emphasis on women and girls; addressing the climate crisis and its impact on food security; tackling the lack of access to economic opportunities for future generations; and encouraging civic participation.
