Kigali: RDB (Rwanda Development Board) supported 43 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to showcase their made in Rwanda products at the on-going Made in Rwanda Expo happening in Gikondo expo grounds in Kigali.
The move is in line with RDB’s Domestic Market Recapturing Strategy that seeks to promote SMEs to access different local and international markets while creating confidence among buyers on the quality of their products.
RDB supported companies ranging from the creative, manufacturing, textiles, agro-processing and handcraft industries.
The expo was officially opened on Friday, 22nd November by the Minister of Trade & Industry, Soraya Hakuziyaremye, RDB’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Zephanie Niyonkuru and the Chairman of the Private Sector Federation, Robert Bapfakulera.
In his remarks, Niyonkuru said : “Supporting our local manufacturers to access both local and foreign markets is key if we want to reduce the country’s trade deficit. It is our hope that these SMEs continue producing competitive products that can reach further export markets.”
Organized by the Private Sector Federation together the Ministry of Trade and Industry, this year’s will see over 400 exhibitors from various sectors across the country showcasing Made in Rwanda products. The expo closes on 4th December 2019. (End)
