RDF supports livestock farmers in Eastern Province

The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has launched a program to assist livestock farmers in the Kayonza, Gatsibo, and Nyagatare districts by granting them access to harvest fodder in the Gabiro Military Domain, supporting efforts to boost milk production.

RDF has coordinated specific timeframes and designated entry and exit points to streamline the harvesting process for farmers, who will use the gathered fodder to feed their livestock.

Farmers in Munini Sector, Gikobwa Cell expressed their appreciation for RDF’s support in allowing them to cut and collect grass for their cattle.

The RDF is working closely with the local government and the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure the operation is conducted safely and efficiently. This initiative is designed to facilitate the community’s needs, safeguard local security, and prevent potential incidents during training.

Each district has assigned entry and exit points: Gatsibo has three points at Munini/Gikobwa, Munini/Nyamwiza, and Nyamatete, while Nyagatare has two points at Shimwa Paul and Zubarirashe, and Kayonza has Mutumba and Gakoma. (End)
