Rencontres Economiques are organizing the first edition of the Kigali Economic Forum in late November

Rencontres Economiques are organizing the first edition of the Kigali Economic Forum, on 27 and 28 November at the Kigali Convention Center. This exceptional event will bring together a large number of economic, political, academic, and institutional personalities around the theme “Africa: what opportunities?” Europe and Africa are inextricably linked.

In these uncertain times, both can reinforce each other. The coming years will be very favourable for Africa. Its place at the heart of the global economic system, the youth of its population, its dazzling development in digital technologies and artificial intelligence, its preponderant role in major ecological and climatic issues… are all levers to be activated to ensure that the African continent occupies the place it deserves.

Organized under the direction of Jean-Hervé Lorenzi, founder of the Cercle des économistes and the Rencontres Économiques, and in collaboration with the Rwandan government, the Kigali Economic Forum will welcome leading economic, political, and institutional figures to discuss major African issues.

Members of the Cercle des économistes will be making the trip and moderating 8 round-table discussions, which will include prominent figures such as : Donald KABERUKA, former President of the African Development Bank; Serge EKUE, President of the West African Development Bank; Karamo KABA, Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea; Cina LAWSON, Togo’s Minister of Digital Economy and Transition, the former French Minister for Equality between Women and Men, Diversity and Equal Opportunities Elisabeth MORENO;  Louise MUSHIKIWABO, Secretary General of La Francophonie; and the Rwandan Minister of Economy and Finance, Dr. Uzziel NDAGIJIMANA.

Speakers will address financial issues, development, education, new technologies, governance… At a time when external crises are affecting the continent, the Kigali Economic Forum will be an opportunity to highlight all the solutions that exist in a multicultural dialogue around the continent. (End)
