Today, the RGB (Rwanda Governance Board) CEO Dr. Usta Kaitesi attended a Civil Society Open Day held at Hôtel des Mille Collines.
The event was organised by the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group with the objective of creating an opportunity for open dialogue and awareness creation between the Bank and civil society organizations.
Rwandan civil society organizations joined the Bank to discuss the Bank Group’s Country Strategy 2022-2026 and investment portfolio aimed at identifying opportunities for collaboration and interventions for the sustainable and inclusive development of Rwanda.
Civil society organizations Open day offers the opportunity to engage, exchange ideas and hold space for Civil Society Organizations in countries where the Bank works. It is a mechanism to cooperate closely with all relevant stakeholders, including grassroots organizations, for an effective and comprehensive response to the development challenges at the country level.
It provides a forum for civil society organizations to provide feedback, learn about the Bank’s objectives, and find synergies with like-minded organizations to achieve life-changing solutions for those we support.
Civil society organizations play a pivotal role in raising the voices of poor and marginalized people, advocating for the work they do on the ground — particularly in areas of fragile governance and post-conflict setting — and, increasing public sector accountability and transparency through strong support for good governance.
As such, the Bank recognizes that their knowledge and inputs are an essential building block in the foundation for a better and thriving Rwandan society. (End)
