Today, Rwanda’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Yusuf Muragwa, welcomed Mr. Zarau Wendeline Kibwe, the new Executive Director for the Africa Group 1 Constituency at the World Bank.
“Our discussions centered on strengthening our current collaborations and expanding the scope of our development cooperation”, Minister Yusuf Muragwa said via X.
Since November 2024, Zarau Wendeline Kibwe, a Tanzanian economist, is serving as the new Executive Director for the World Bank’s Africa Group 1, which oversees a vast region of 22 African countries including Rwanda.
Rwanda became a member of the World Bank on September 30, 1963, since then, the bank has provided financial support for different development programs in Rwanda including human capital, infrastructure, agriculture, resilience, and private sector development.
Over the last decade, one million people have lifted themselves out of extreme poverty, capitalizing on a rapidly improving agriculture sector in which the International Development Association (IDA) has been proud to make substantial investments. (End)
