Rwanda joins the world in marking World Cancer Day 2023. The theme of this year is “Close the care Gap: Uniting our voices and taking action.”
During the Cervical Cancer Symposium held in Kigali today, February 04, Rwanda aims to build strong alliances and new innovative collaborations with partners in order to eliminate Cervical Cancer.
In a panel discussion themed “Africa on the right path to eliminate Cervical Cancer,” the Director General of Rwanda Biomedical Center Claude Muvunyi presented Rwanda’s success in rolling out HPV vaccination and discussed how lessons learned can help achieve higher coverage rates for HPV screening in other African countries.
World Cancer Day aims to promote awareness on cancer as a public health issue and to strengthen actions towards improving access to quality care, screening, early detection, treatment and palliative care. (End)
