Rwanda received criminal fugitive Gitangaza Prince deported from Uganda

Today, Rwanda received Gitangaza Prince, who had fled to Uganda after his involvement in the crime of torture committed against Haberumugabo Guy Divin in November 2024.

The extradition of Gitangaza comes after the National Public Prosecution Authority, through the existing mutual legal assistance framework, issued an international arrest warrant to Uganda.

At the handover event that took place at the Kagitumba One Stop Border Post, Rwanda’s delegation was led by Jean Bosco Zingiro, Communication Specialist at INTERPOL National Central Bureau – Kigali while Uganda’s delegation was headed by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Otekat Andrew Mike, representing Uganda Police.

All other eight accomplices linked to the crime are currently under provisional detention pending court hearing.
