Following a successful roll out of COVID-19 vaccination campaign that has seen 350,400 inoculated, Rwanda starts today a new nation-wide vaccination drive to fully immunize those who had previously received first doses of OXFORD-Astra Zeneca vaccine.
Rwanda has received an additional 247,000 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine through the COVAX mechanism, including 117,600 doses donated by the Government of France.
“We are thankful to the Government of France and to other partners for their support making these vaccines available. We will immediately start administration of second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. We continue discussions talks with a variety of stakeholders on getting more vaccines so that we can vaccinate as many Rwandans as we can, in order to defeat this pandemic.” said Dr Daniel Ngamije, Minister of Health.
Vaccine doses have been distributed to all health centers and vaccination campaign starts today May 29, 2021. (End)
