Rwanda Formed Police Unit (RWAFPU1-10), on Saturday, November 30, together with the Central African Republic (CAR) local police force (FSI) and residents of the Fifth Arrondissement in Bangui, conducted Umuganda, which focused on environmental protection, sanitation and hygiene.
The communal service conducted in the Fifth Arrondissement highlights a united effort to enhance hygiene, conserve the environment and protection of civilians.
Rwandan peacekeepers, FSI officers, and local residents worked together to clear streets, collect waste and cut overgrown grass.
The Rwandan peacekeepers also distributed clean drinking water to communities in Kolongo 2, who are grappling with lack of water, providing critical relief to families facing challenges in accessing essential resources.
These activities improve the aesthetics of the area, contribute to public health and safety by reducing risks associated with littering and lack of clean drinking water, and improve partnership between the Rwandan peacekeepers, local security and the locals.
The Mayor of the Fifth Arrondissement, Yemo Guy Blaise, commended the contributions of the Rwandan peacekeepers to improve the wellbeing of the people.
“Our district has greatly benefited from the presence of Rwandan peacekeepers,” Mayor Blaise remarked. “Their unwavering support exemplified by today’s efforts, has strengthened the bond between our community and the international peacekeeping mission. Their actions reflect a deep commitment to the betterment of our city.”(End)
