
Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 6.5 percent year on year in March 2025 up from 6.3 percent in February 2025.
In March 2025, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 6.4 percent on annual basis and it increased by 2.4 percent on monthly basis. ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ increased by 2.6 percent on annual basis and it increased by 0.2 percent on monthly basis. Transport increased by 12 percent on annual basis and it increased by 1.3 percent on monthly basis. ‘Restaurants and Hotels’ increased by 14.1 percent on annual basis and it increased by 2.3 percent on monthly basis.
The data also show the “local products” increased by 6.7 percent on annual basis and it increased by 1.6 percent on monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 6.1 percent on annual basis and it increased by 0.6 percent on monthly basis.
The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 11.3 percent on annual change and it increased by 3.4 percent on monthly basis.
The prices of the “energy” decreased by 1.1 percent on annual change and it increased by 0.6 on monthly basis.
The prices of the “general Index excluding fresh products and energy” increased by 5.8 percent on annual change and it increased by 0.7 percent on monthly basis. (End)
