Senate President Kalinda François Xavier together with Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Mukabalisa Donatille, and other bureaus members of both chambers held talks with East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Members, Rwanda chapter.
They discussed Rwanda’s position and priorities with regard to the ongoing EAC activities and ways of reinforcing collaboration.
At the current (5th) EALA, Rwanda is represented by nine (9) members elected in a joint session of both Chambers on December 12, 2022.
Musangabatware Clément, Nyiramana Aisha, Fatuma N. Ndangiza, Harebamungu Mathias, Kayonga Caroline Rwivanga, and Rutazana Francine are the newly elected EALA members from the political organizations, along with Françoise Uwumukiza from the National Women’s Council, Alodie Iradukunda from the National Youth Council, and Alex Bahati from the National Council of People with Disabilities.
The current EALA members were sworn in on December 19, 2022, at a ceremony conducted in Arusha, Tanzania.
The membership of EALA currently stands at 62, with nine Elected Members from each of the six EAC Partner States with a 5 year- term, renewable and eight Ex-officio Members (Ministers in charge of EAC Affairs).
