The Ambassador Director Ggeneral of political affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Fouad Yazourh, called on Saturday, May 22, 2021, for a transparent investigation to shed light on the case of the so-called Brahim Ghali.
“An investigation that we hope will be transparent should be conducted to shed full light on this case,” Yazourh said in a statement to the press, stressing that this investigation “may reveal many surprises, including the complicity and interference of four generals from a Maghreb country”.
“This information seems to surprise you, even shocking for the Spanish public opinion, but do not be surprised. As you know, Moroccan services are among the most efficient,” said the official, stressing that more elements will be revealed in due course.
He recalled that when Morocco revealed on April 19 that Ghali was in Spain, many people, including the media and the authorities, questioned this information, before confirming it 24 hours later.
In addition, Yazourh said that beyond the damage caused to the Moroccan-Spanish partnership, the case of the so-called Ghali shows first that Spain has made a choice between, on the one hand, its citizens victims of despicable crimes and, on the other, a criminal responsible for the death of dozens of Spaniards in addition to rape, torture and disappearances.
Indeed, he went on, Spain must first explain to its own public opinion before explaining to Morocco the conditions, circumstances and complicities that led to the fraudulent entry of this person on Spanish territory with falsified documents and a usurped identity.
“The Spanish people have the right to know, especially since the Spanish authorities and political class know that he is prosecuted by Spanish citizens, in Spanish courts and for crimes partly committed in Spain,” he insisted.
