Juba: The Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Lt Gen Mohan Subramanian, paid a visit to the Rwandan Peacekeepers (Rwanbatt-1) at their headquarters, UN Tomping Base Camp, Juba. He was accompanied by both Sector South and Sector Juba Commanders.
The Rwanbatt-1 Contingent Commander, Lt Col Emmanuel Ntwali, welcomed him and briefed him on the current security situation and operations conducted in the area of responsibility.
The Force Commander commended the Contingent for operations well conducted in protecting the Community in area of responsibility as well as protecting the UNMISS Base in Juba. He urged the Contingent to maintain the momentum and continue making a difference in executing the UNMISS mandate.
He also stressed on the need to understand and execute the rules of engagement while dealing with any security situation and taking right decisions and actions in protecting civilians.
Rwanbatt-1 is currently deployed in Juba, Central Equatorial State and Torit, Eastern Equatorial State in South Sudan.
Rwanda currently maintains three Battalions and an Aviation Unit deployed in Juba, Durupi, Torit and Malakal under UNMISS. (End)
