President Kagame enters Southern Province

President Kagame arrived in rural Ngororero district Saturday early afternoon amid thunderous ululation from tens of thousands. Kagame held a rally at Muramba where thousands had being waiting since early morning.

Like the campaign trail has been for the RPF, there were messages of appreciation for the President from mainly women who have been saying without him, they would be nowhere.

Incidentally, the road connecting Rubavu and Ngororero without having to go through Kigali, has been rehabilited with tarmac. Previously, to travel to the western province from Gisenyi, you had to move back to Kigali then travel south – later to connect to the west, because the Rubavu-Ngororero road was largely impassable.

President Kagame received continuous praise for the road at his Ngororero rally. For those RPF supporters who came from other sectors of Ngororero which have electricity, the only person responsible for extending the power lines in none other than President Kagame.

When the PSD candidate Ntawukuriryayo was in Ngororero on Wednesday, he passed through Muhanga district – where he had to spend more than two hours on a dusty road. When he arrived there, the first campaign promise he made was having that same road tarmacked immediately he enters Village Urugwiro.

President Kagame moved on to urban Muhanga district (Gitarama) where already tens-of-thousands were waiting. The RPF will have rally in Muhanga stadium.

The Liberal Candidate Prosper Higiro is back in Kigali where he held a small rally in Nyamirambo. Contrary to the RPF which had its campaign launch in Amahoro stadium, PL cannot have it as the continental dance festival FESPAD started at the same time as the PL rally.

But even so, RNA reporter at the PL rally says the crowd there is small numbering a few hundreds.

The Party for Prosperity and Concord candidate Dr. Alvera Mukabaramba is headed to the North, after Kigali. She has been holding largely single rallies per day, as compared to others that have maintained two for everyday.
