President Kagame, WHO boss discussed Rwanda’s response to the Marburg outbreak

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), had a fruitful conversation with President Paul Kagame regarding Rwanda’s ongoing response to the Marburg outbreak. 

“I expressed my appreciation for his leadership and the effective management of the outbreak response, along with his commitment to end it soon”, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said via X.  

“We also discussed the significant investments in establishing a local vaccine manufacturing facility in Kigali, which is well underway and making significant progress, leveraging lessons learned from COVID-19 to address the equity challenges faced by Africa.”, he added. 

The WHO boss, who was on a visit to Rwanda, commended the country’s management of the viral disease and treatment of patients, as he pledged continued support to the country. (End)
