As part of the international dynamic created under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in support of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara and the Autonomy Plan, Hungary expresses its support for the efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco for the resolution of the Sahara issue and supports the Autonomy Plan.
Hungary’s position was expressed in the joint statement signed at the end of a meeting, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Rabat, between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Hungarian counterpart, Péter Szijjártó.
In this regard, the two Ministers “reaffirmed their support for the political process led by the United Nations and the efforts of the Secretary General of the United Nations to reach a solution to the Sahara issue, in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council”.
Morocco and Hungary emphasize “their positive and constructive roles in maintaining stability, security and peace in their respective regions” and affirm “their commitment to these principles, as well as to a peaceful resolution of conflicts and to respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of States”, reads the joint statement.
Hungary’s new strengthened position reinforces the momentum recently created, which is welcomed by the latest resolution of the United Nations Security Council and which urges that it be used to advantage.
