Panelists Amy Mbacke of Senegal and Magnifique Béatrice of Rwanda on Community Health

Community health financing is a crucial component of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Africa. However, over 90% of African countries remain off track in meeting health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

With only 48% of the population in Africa having access to essential health services, community health systems play a key role in delivering primary healthcare. Despite their importance, these systems face a significant financing gap, estimated at $4.4 billion annually.

Addressing these financial challenges is critical to ensuring equitable and sustainable healthcare solutions.

The Financing Alliance for Health (FAH) is an African-based organization that collaborates with governments to strengthen community health financing. As community health programs remain underfunded and poorly integrated into national health systems, FAH advocates for innovative and sustainable financing models.
