Former Police Chief Gasana and several other officers retired

President Paul Kagame has approved the retirement of six Commissioners of Police and several other officers, as announced today by the Rwanda National Police in a statement. 

The list of retirees includes Commissioner General (CG) Emmanuel Gasana, the current Governor of Eastern Province and former Inspector General of Police from 19 October 2009 to 18 October 2018. He left this position and was appointed the Governor of the Southern Province. In 2021, he was assigned to lead the Eastern Province. 

The list of retirees also includes three Commissioners of Police (CP): Emmanuel Butera, Vianney Nshimiyimana, and Bruce Munyambo. Two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), Damas Gatare and Privat Gakwaya, also retired.

President Kagame has also approved the retirement of five senior officers, 28 junior officers, and 60 NCOs. The approval also includes seven police officers retired on medical grounds and other six discharged for various reasons, as stated in the RNP statement. (End)
