Kagame promises free 12-year education for all

Speaking at a large rally at a primary school in the urban Ruhango district, the RPF candidate said his government had delivered on the previous promise to avail free primary education. The campaign pledge was made in 2003.

Now with the nine-year basic education we will make sure all Rwandan children can continue school for more three years, said Kagame amid loud and prolonged applause.

The latest pledge by the ruling block means that school-going children will attend free nine-year education as per the academic program, and then be able to go on to have the first three years of secondary.

Their parents will only go to support them for the last three years of secondary education, according to the RPF plan.

President Kagame had come to Ruhango Tuesday late afternoon from Kamonyi where he was showed with praises for extending the power grid to Kamonyi. The district is just outside Kigali.

Other testimonies centered on thanking the RPF candidate for empowering women.

The President held a large rally at Rukoma.
