Over 4500 Police officers promoted

Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic of Rwanda, has promoted senior and junior Police officers to different ranks. 

They are among the 4516 officers, including Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO), who were elevated to various ranks.

The promotions announced on Friday, April 25, include 16 officers elevated from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and 24 from Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).

Other 35 officers were promoted from Superintendent of Police (SP) to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), 63 elevated to Superintendent of Police (SP) from Chief Inspector of Police (CIP), 308 elevated to CIP; including 304 from Inspector of Police (IP) and four from Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP), 560 officers elevated to IP from Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) and one from Chief Sergeant to Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP). 

Those promoted to the rank of ACP, include Athanase Nshuti, the Deputy Regional Police Commander—Central, Eric Kanyabuganza, the Rwanda National Police (RNP) Legal Officer, and Fabien Musinguzi, Deputy Commissioner for Traffic and Road Safety department in charge of Operations.

Other new ACPs include Innocent Semigabo, Commanding Officer—Task-Force Unit, Dr. Oreste Tuganeyezu, Director Gisenyi District hospital, Methode Munyaneza, the Deputy Commandant at Counter-Terrorism Training Centre (CTTC) Mayange; Africa Sendahangarwa Apollo, the Chief Executive Officer of EAPCCO and Head Interpol Regional Bureau Nairobi; Khalid Kabasha, Commissioner for Cooperation and Protocol; Peterson Mwesigye, Rwanda Police Permanent Advisor at UN, New York; Egide Rekambane, Pilot-Police Airwing; Marie Rose Kampire, Police Airwing; and John Mulisa currently part of Rwanda Security Forces (RSF) in Mozambique.

Promotion in NCOs

Some 14 Senior Sergeants (S/SGT) were promoted to Chief Sergeant (C/SGT), 49 from Sergeant (SGT) to Senior Sergeant (S/SGT), 1345 from Corporal (CPL) to Sergeant SGT) and 2101 from Police Constable (PC) to Corporal (CPL).

Meanwhile, 150 retired from active service. They include 45 Junior officers and 105 NCOs. Other 17 officers retired on health grounds while four others were discharged for different reasons. (End
