President Kagame, First Lady visit “Anıtkabir” Mausoleum Complex in Ankara

This morning in Ankara, President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame visited the Anitkabir, the resting place of Türkiye’s founder and first President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

President Kagame and the First Lady paid tribute to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and put a wreath at his tomb.

At the invitation of President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Rwanda and his wife are paying a two day official visit to the Republic of Türkiye.

It is a tradition for high and the highest-level delegates and guests visiting the Republic of Türkiye, as well as ambassadors to the country, to pay tribute and lay wreaths at the Anıtkabir Mausoleum Complex.

Designed by architects Emin Onat and Orhan Arda, the construction of Anıtkabir began in 1944 and was completed in 1953. (End)
