President Kagame meets leaders on sidelines of CHOGM 2024

Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame had a busy day meeting leaders in Apia, the capital city of Samoa, on the sidelines of the biennial Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2024). 

President Kagame met with Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne. They discussed how to foster stronger bilateral relations and explore new avenues for cooperation in various sectors.

He met with the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Treasury of Papua New Guinea James Marape who is in Apia for CHOGM 2024. They discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two nations.

President Kagame also attended the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) hosted by King Charles II, the King of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms.

The CHOGM 2024 takes place in Apia, Samoa from 21-26 October 2024. It is the first CHOGM to be held in a Pacific Small Island Developing State.

President Kagame, who is attending the meetings in person, took time off to meet other world leaders. President Kagame has Chaired the Commonwealth since 2022. (End)
