Rwanda National Police weekend in sports

Rwanda National Police (RNP) sports teams were busy this weekend. The 2024 Inter-Units Karate competition concluded successfully on Saturday, October 19, as Police officers from different RNP units across the country showcased their skills.

Karate

The Karate competition was attended by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in Charge of Administration and Personnel, DCG Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza and officials from Rwanda Karate Federation.

Some 35 Police officers took part in the male and female competition held at the RNP General Headquarters, Kacyiru.

In female Open-Kata category, Joyce Byiringiro from Special Intervention Force (SIF) emerged the overall best while Alice Uwamahoro from Rusizi District Police Unit ( DPU) came second.

Emmanuel Tuyishimire from Nyanza DPU and Erneste Ndasirabahizi from Nyaruguru DPU were first and second, respectively, in Male Open-Kata.

Alice Uwamahoro won the female Open Kumite followed by Sans Tache Muziranenge from Command and Coordination Centre (CCC) and Joyce Byiringiro in that order.

Fiston Rwigema from Nyanza DPU, Emile Kabasha of Gisagara DPU and Steven Nkurunziza from VIP protection unit topped the male Kumite -67 years category.

In male Kumite +67 years, Bosco Nshimyumuremyi from Bugesera DPU was the overall best, followed by Emmanuel Twizeyimana of Nyagatare DPU and Jean Louis Niyompagarike from Kayonza DPU.

Volleyball 

It was also a winning weekend for the RNP men and women volleyball clubs in the national volleyball championship.

Police Volleyball Club thrashed REG 3-0 sets in their opening game of the national volleyball championship. It was the same well deserved results for the Police Women Volleyball Club, who saw off EAUR in three straight sets (25-22, 25-13, 25-16).  (End)
